Jack Black on a Lime and My Birthday

I have a new shirt inspired by the great Jack Black and it is far and away the biggest seller in my shop. Here’s the story…

It’s kind of like folklore around my hometown. I see Jack Black (The Tenacious D frontman and GOAT actor) damn near daily walking around (or riding a scooter) in my neighborhood with his tie-died t-shirt, big headphones and wizard-like magic vibes.

It’s inspiring to see. It reminds me that being authentic is a gift to ourselves and to the world. I drew / designed the t-shirt below in tribute and it caught wind through local social media channels and BOOM…an instant hit. I had NO IDEA so many people knew about this fun sighting but turns out a lot of people have and now they own the shirt that proves it!

My birthday was last week on August 14th!

I have this thing about releasing something creative on my birthday and this year, I wrote and recorded an E.P. of 6 songs titled “You and Me Posthumously.”

It has been a while since I released anything new and I have a few things to say about Chicago, LA, buying people lunch, other artists ripping off my style, death and Love (obviously). If you’re interested, it’s available to listen to here.

If you’re interested even FURTHER - There’s a track by track audio commentary that accompany’s the record and I dish HARD about the meaning behind it all.

Three brand new Featured Flights episodes in August.

This month I released an episode with the front woman of The California Punk Rock band The Bombpops. Jen Razavi has a lot to say about joining Fat Wreck Chords, Being a female in a male dominated field, not giving up and much more.

Dave Swick (Swicktone Guitars) talks with me about what it’s like to build guitars from the ground up while he builds a business rooted in his dreams.

Steve Knecht talks about his band The burning lights, social media, and coming up in Chicago punk rock while studying music at the revered, Berkley School of Music.
